Is it a legal requirement to fit winter tyres in the UK?

Unlike in some countries on the continent there are presently no laws in the UK that require you to fit winter tyres. However, they will certainly be of use to people in the UK and the increased control will certainly increase levels of safety whilst driving in winter conditions in the UK. 

 

If you do plan to travel abroad with your vehicle during ski seasons or winter months then please check whether they require you to fit winter tyres, as many European countires require this by law including Germany.
