I entered my vehicle's registration, but tyre size isn't there - what should I do?

Last updated: September 21, 2025

Our data is provided via a third party from the DVLA and will show a list of the tyres it believes were fitted to your car when it was manufactured. However, you or a previous owner may have altered the tyre sizes and so it is important to check. If your tyre size doesn't appear when searching by registration plate, please search manually using the advanced tyre search or browse our FAQ section.

Tyre sizes are displayed in a standardised format, such as 225/55 R17 97W. The first number (225) represents the tyre width in millimetres, the second number (55) is the aspect ratio (sidewall height as a percentage of width), R indicates radial construction, 17 is the wheel diameter in inches, 97 is the load rating, and W is the speed rating.

Using the correct tyre size is essential for maintaining your vehicle's speedometer accuracy, handling characteristics, and safety systems like ABS and ESP. Incorrect sizes can affect fuel economy, ride comfort, and may even cause legal issues during MOT testing.

At tyres.online, we help you compare tyre options from leading retailers across the UK. Our platform allows you to easily compare prices, specifications, and fitment options to find the perfect tyres for your vehicle and budget.
